Largo Foods, Ireland’s largest snack-food manufacturer (brands include Tayto, King and Hunky Dorys), set out to drive continuous improvement at its Gweedore plant to support growth and meet demanding retail contracts. Although the site was already performing well, managers relied on time-consuming spreadsheets and lacked a standard way to quantify lost availability, performance and quality — making it hard to prioritise improvement opportunities.

Working with Lauras International, Largo implemented the Idhammar OEE System in February 2008 and trained an on-site Continuous Improvement Champion to analyse drill-down data by product, shift and line. The OEE platform replaced spreadsheets, revealed the top efficiency losses, and—within six months—delivered measurable financial savings, waste reduction, increased capacity and a plan to roll the programme out to other sites.
