A Idhammar Systems Case Study
Halewood International, a UK drinks manufacturer with over £250m turnover and 1,500+ employees, operates a Liverpool distillery and bottling plant producing 11 million cases a year. In 2009 the site began a lean programme to boost reliability and replace a paper T‑Card maintenance system; challenges included poor visibility of maintenance activity, a high number of outstanding job cards, tied-up inventory and the need to demonstrate regulatory compliance (BRC).
Halewood implemented the Idhammar Maintenance Management System with a dedicated engineering Steering Team, targeted training and TPM/5S initiatives. The CMMS centralised documents and asset records, halved outstanding job cards (moving toward a target of 10 and then zero), and is driving a planned ~20% reduction in inventory overheads; it also improved auditability and will be extended to the shop floor (PDAs/barcodes planned), enhancing asset performance, uptime and cost control.
