Moodlerooms, an education technology company serving schools and universities, needed a better way to store, review, and analyze historical query data across 1,700 customer sites and 70 database servers. The team also needed an easy-to-use monitoring interface for support and operations staff who were not database administrators. Idera’s MySQL monitoring tool, Monyog, was selected to help address these challenges.

Idera implemented Monyog’s wayback machine, process list visualization, and deadlock metrics, along with a lightweight web server per data center to monitor all database servers through a simple UI. The result was much better visibility into slow queries and performance issues, helping Moodlerooms identify and fix poorly performing queries and regularly focus on the top 10 offenders to improve page load times across its product.
