Case Study: Catalina achieves stronger data modeling standards with Idera ER/Studio

A Idera Case Study

Preview of the Catalina Case Study

Deploys ER/Studio to establish modeling standards for the data warehouse

Catalina, a global shopper-data and analytics company managing one of the world’s largest transaction-level data warehouses, needed to replace legacy modeling tools that could better support IBM Netezza and help its teams handle hundreds of complex databases. The company also wanted clearer visibility into models and structures, plus stronger web-based reporting and publishing for developers and business users.

Idera’s ER/Studio Enterprise was deployed across Catalina’s databases to standardize modeling, automate routine tasks, and provide a browser-based Portal for sharing, searching, and reporting on metadata. The result was seamless migration from the old platform, improved Netezza-specific modeling, better collaboration and visibility, and simpler centralized license management—helping Catalina’s teams keep pace with a massive environment of more than 2.5 petabytes of data and over 300 million retail transactions each week.
