A Identity Automation Case Study
Valley Medical Center, a University of Washington acute care network with a 321‑bed hospital and more than four dozen clinics serving 600,000 residents, was suffering decreased clinician productivity and confidence after 14 years with its legacy SSO. Staff experienced frequent tap-in retry errors, wrong-user-in-context issues, and heavy administrative overhead (an administrator spending roughly 50% of her time on SSO maintenance). To address these problems, Valley Medical Center selected Identity Automation’s ExactAccess SSO and clinical workflow solution.
Identity Automation implemented ExactAccess with proximity badge SSO and an application launch bar, deploying it to 4,000+ clinical and support staff across 3,000 shared workstations. The new solution drastically reduced login times and on-screen errors, significantly cut patient context mismatch incidents, and improved mean time of machine availability. Administrative SSO maintenance fell from over 20 hours per week to about 1–2 hours (an over 90% reduction), restoring clinician confidence, increasing productivity, and freeing IT to focus on other priorities.
