A Identity Automation Case Study
Minnetonka Public Schools, a high-performing Minnesota district serving about 10,000 students, 15,000 parents, and 2,000 staff, needed a secure, scalable way to manage 6,000 iPads and provide easy access to external learning apps while protecting student privacy. Their existing identity solution was cumbersome, required heavy vendor-dependent development, and lost reliable support after vendor changes, so the district selected Identity Automation and its RapidIdentity platform.
Identity Automation implemented RapidIdentity to deliver districtwide SSO, encryption, and a role/attribute-based user portal, expanding supported apps from 90 to 271 (an increase of 181) and enabling most new app connections without developer help. The deployment cut help-desk calls by about 80%, freed an estimated 4,500 instructional hours per year, led to 90% of families logging into the portal (about 75% weekly), and let IT move from reactive fixes to proactive support—demonstrating clear operational and educational gains from Identity Automation.
