East Side Union High School District, a San Jose public secondary district of 18 high schools and a diverse student body, faced a fast-moving IT challenge: CTO Randy Phelps wanted every student and staff member to have email, storage and single sign-on access across personal devices, but the small IT team had to support existing staff while building identity infrastructure for 25,000 users in under a year. To meet that goal they selected Identity Automation’s RapidIdentity as the core identity and SSO platform.

Identity Automation implemented RapidIdentity in a multi‑phased rollout that now manages 25,000 user accounts, delivers single sign-on to 30+ educational systems (including an integration with Clever), and uses the Sponsorship Module to provision temporary parent and contractor accounts. The deployment automated password self-service and delegated resets, improved security by making every network user identifiable, and drove measurable adoption—student use of the digital library doubled in the first month—freeing IT to focus on other priorities.
