A identiMetrics Case Study
Chaminade High School, a Catholic all-boys high school in Mineola, New York, faced a recurring attendance challenge with about 250 students who commute by train and are often tardy because of delays. The school wanted a faster, more accurate way to process excused tardies into PowerSchool, and the existing barcode ID approach was slowing students and staff down.
identiMetrics implemented a biometric identification system using fingerprint scanning to replace manual sign-ins and ID card scanning for attendance, and later expanded it to the cafeteria using Nutrikids. The results were significant: when about 80 students arrive at once, everyone can scan in in roughly 3.5 minutes, improving accuracy and efficiency. The school also completed enrollment with no added time by capturing biometrics during ID photo sessions, and identiMetrics is now being considered for other campus uses such as the library, nurse’s office, and security access.
