Thread, a Baltimore-based nonprofit, needed a reliable way to track and report on student-volunteer relationships as it worked to support at-risk high school students and scale toward 6,500 volunteers and 3,000 students. Its old Google Docs-based process had hit limits and made data standardization, onboarding, and cross-site reporting difficult, so Thread turned to Idealist Consulting and Salesforce to better manage its programs.

Idealist Consulting implemented Salesforce Communities, custom interfaces, workflows, standardized email templates, and dashboards to centralize data, automate volunteer enrollment, and improve reporting. The result was faster event follow-up and data entry, reduced data cleansing, and real-time dashboards that updated automatically; Thread now has 29 custom reports and 10 custom dashboards, with updates that take minutes instead of hours.
