IDE Group’s £1m startup scheme enables Fusion to launch South Coast WiFi & ‘Smart City’ updates

Fusion Wifi is a social tech company that needed robust connectivity, colocation space, and low-cost reliable IP transit to support the rollout of a free public WiFi network in Bournemouth and its core infrastructure. Its business model depended on a network that could support venue registration and targeted marketing while meeting a business-critical deadline for the launch.

IDE Group provided connectivity, IP transit, and colocation from its Bournemouth data centre, giving Fusion Wifi reliable access to the internet exchange network and hosting for its kit. The solution supported Bournemouth Borough Council and other customers, enabled Smart City updates and targeted marketing, and helped Fusion Wifi scale; since the service was completed, almost one million people have logged on through venues from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur.
