IDE Group provide connectivity for world’s largest sport and music festival

Diamond Sporting Group, the creator of Bournemouth 7s and owner of Viper 10 Sportswear and V10 Creative, needed reliable connectivity for its annual festival near Bournemouth Airport. The rural site had no fixed infrastructure, and the existing ADSL lines delivered less than 10Mb of domestic broadband, creating problems for commerce, security, communications, advertising, social media, and sponsor PR.

IDE Group designed a temporary wireless connectivity solution that ran from its Bournemouth Data Centre through three wireless network legs to the festival site, with a later adjustment to add a link at the top of a 15m floodlight. The system was installed in one day, delivered over 100Mb of uncontended bandwidth during the five-day event, and was removed in two hours with no environmental impact. Diamond Sporting Group said the service was reliable and helped staff operate as usual on an outdoor site.
