XFT Medical launches a 6-mode hand rehabilitation glove with ID&C

The customer, XFT Medical, a developer and manufacturer of home medical and rehabilitation devices, partnered with vendor ID&C (Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd) to create a new pneumatic hand rehabilitation glove. Their challenge was to design an effective device for patients with reduced dexterity, such as after a stroke, that would be easy to put on with one hand and could aid in repairing motor function while preventing muscle atrophy.

ID&C's solution involved extensive user testing, competitor analysis, and rapid prototyping. They developed an ergonomic neoprene glove with a supportive wrist strap and integrated proven pneumatic bellows to assist movement. The resulting device features multiple training modes triggered by EMG feedback, allowing patients to improve both gross and fine motor skills. ID&C also created a cohesive brand identity for the product that fits within the XFT Medical range.
