Chinese medical company Tuoren approached ID&C (Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd) to develop a new Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA) pump. Their previous product generated significant plastic waste and suffered from accuracy, reliability, and usability issues, which hindered its commercial appeal to hospital buyers.

ID&C took on the complete development process for Tuoren, from initial research to production tooling. The solution significantly reduced disposable waste by designing a system where only the drug pouch and a small cassette are discarded. Through rigorous engineering, including tolerance analysis and manufacturing control, ID&C ensured the new pump achieved high accuracy and dependable performance. Tuoren was delighted with the final product, which also featured an aesthetically appealing, slim design that was easy to handle.
