Swissair creates 17 first class prototype seats with ID&C for customer testing

The airline Swissair faced the challenge of testing a new first class flatbed seat design, requiring high-quality prototypes for user trials prior to full production. They were assisted by vendor ID&C (Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd), who was approached by the seat supplier SR-Technics to create these top-quality prototype units.

ID&C developed and manufactured the complex seating prototypes, which included a seat, sideboard, table, and footstool. The vendor produced a total of seventeen models for user trials and cabin mock-ups, finished to a production-level standard. This allowed Swissair to conduct superior user testing on the ergonomically designed chairs before committing to their full production.

Swissair
