Specac required design and engineering assistance for their new Apex 400 benchtop hydraulic press, a device used for sample preparation in elemental analysis. ID&C (Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd) was engaged to help translate the Specac brand identity into this new product and ensure it fit seamlessly within their expanding lineup.

ID&C implemented a user-centered design process that included prototyping and usability testing. This resulted in an accessible design with an angled digital screen for optimal readability and an easily operated sample loading tray. The vendor also provided full mechanical engineering and CAD for manufacture, creating a robust, modular press designed for efficient maintenance and servicing.
