MARS DRINKS serves millions of cups with ID&C

The customer, MARS DRINKS, faced the challenge of adapting their successful Flavia pack format to brew espresso, which required a new technology capable of handling the high water pressure that their existing sachet could not tolerate. They engaged the vendor, ID&C (Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd), to develop the necessary loading, brewing, and dispensing technology for this new system.

ID&C's design and engineering teams developed a novel clamp/lever mechanism that provided the mechanical advantage needed for the sachet to withstand high pressure, integrating a traditional espresso machine handle into the design based on user behavior. After building and testing prototypes to refine the brewing process, the resulting technology from ID&C became the core of the Flavia Barrista system, which now serves millions of cups of award-winning coffee.
