Industrial Design Consultancy Ltd (ID&C) partnered with Hovione, leveraging their expertise in pharmaceutical particle engineering, to address the challenge of creating a safe and effective intranasal device for dry powder drug delivery. The project required a solution that was not only simple and intuitive for patients of all ages to use but also compatible with existing manufacturing processes and cost-effective for large-scale production.

ID&C developed a multi-patented device featuring an innovative mechanism for dry powder ejection. The solution utilized standard drug capsules, eliminating the need for specialized packaging and allowing pharmaceutical companies to use existing filling equipment. The resulting user-friendly and cost-effective platform improves patient experience and offers significant advantages to manufacturers, leading to the subsequent joint development of a multi-dose version to expand its application across a wider range of therapies.
