A IDBS Case Study
Celera used IDBS’s translational research informatics platform to accelerate genetic marker research for coronary heart disease. After identifying promising SNPs in early studies, Celera needed a way to validate disease associations, explore nearby variants and SNP combinations, and connect data from many different quantitative, qualitative, web-based, and textual sources to understand the functional nature of gene variants.
IDBS and Celera built workflow-driven tools to integrate, analyze, and visualize public and internal biomarker data, with automatic annotation from public sources and third-party products. The solution gave researchers interactive visualizations and rapid insight into variant function and biological context, helping prioritize literature queries and follow-up studies such as KIF6, improving the speed and depth of translational research and advancing understanding of coronary heart disease biomarkers.
