A iCONECT Case Study
Haynes and Boone was defending a manufacturing client in an employment discrimination and retaliation matter with a review set of 113,000 documents but an extremely low richness (≈0.025%), making relevant-document identification seem impossible. Working with iCONECT, the firm turned to iCONECT’s e-discovery tools — including Predictive Review, Table View, clustering and bulk-coding workflows — after an initial 3,000-document sample produced only eight responsive documents.
iCONECT helped implement a five-step workflow: develop focused search terms and run predictive coding on the 804 hits, exclude ~30,000 obvious nonresponsive documents via Table View, cluster the remaining set into review batches, bulk-tag by metadata (four attorneys reviewed 80,000 documents in 45 hours, ~1,700 docs/hour), and perform statistical QC. The process produced only 25 documents from the 113,000 set, confirmed minimal relevant discussion (richness ≈0.025%), left the defense trial-ready, and resulted in a positive outcome for the client.
