Hastings Highlands, a rural municipality in Ontario with a population of about 4,200, was using too much paper in its meeting process and struggling to manage Council follow-ups because communication was handled on hardcopy. To address these challenges, the municipality turned to iCompass and its Meeting Management Solution, along with the AgendaNotes iPad application.

With iCompass, Hastings Highlands automated agenda, minute, and report posting on its website, making information easier to find and helping staff manage meetings more efficiently. The results included a much more organized workflow, fewer public information requests, and a tenfold increase in Council meeting attendance, with many residents now accessing agendas digitally; the municipality also plans to further reduce printed agendas from 25–30 per meeting to just 1–2 by moving Council to iPads.
