Vienna Internet eXchange - Customer Case Study

The Vienna Internet Exchange (VIX), an internet exchange point based in Austria, was using Nagios for monitoring but sought a solution with a better response time, superior web interface, and easier performance data integration. They turned to the vendor Icinga to monitor their critical network infrastructure.

Icinga provided a monitoring solution that oversees VIX's entire exchange point switch infrastructure, virtualized XEN servers, and dual-stack BGP peerings. The implementation resulted in significantly improved response times and delivered the enhanced usability and data integration options the customer required. VIX now reliably monitors its environment with Icinga, using two instances in a failover configuration to watch over 20 hosts and 500 services.
