ING, a major German direct bank, faced significant monitoring challenges due to its rapid growth and the integration of its infrastructure with the international ING Group. Their existing solution could not scale to keep pace with over 800 applications, and they required near-real-time monitoring to ensure customer channels remained available and to meet strict regulatory requirements.
The bank implemented Icinga as its central monitoring umbrella to oversee its vast environment of 8,000 hosts and 100,000 services. By working with an Icinga partner to create a custom Event DB and utilize intuitive dashboards, the solution provided a clear, top-level view of the entire bank's status. This allowed for swift fault identification and resolution. As a result, Icinga became an essential, reliable component of ING's operations, with management fully supporting its continued use to ensure secure and smooth banking.
