The Clean Air Technologies Program for CenterPoint Energy
ICF assisted CenterPoint Energy, an electric transmission and distribution utility in Houston, with the challenge of increasing its revenue through environmentally responsible means in a city struggling with poor air quality. The client needed to identify and implement clean-burning technologies to meet this business growth goal.
ICF's solution involved a comprehensive assessment of over 60 technologies, ultimately focusing on forklifts, pipeline compressors, and shore power. ICF leveraged local expertise and Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP) grants to facilitate implementation. The program generated an estimated $10 million in revenue for CenterPoint, secured over $4.5 million in TERP grants for local businesses, and reduced emissions equivalent to removing more than 22,000 cars from the road.
