A ICF Case Study
JEA, a large community-owned electric utility in Florida, faced the challenge of flat electricity sales and needed to increase revenue while promoting cleaner technologies. They needed an innovative program to boost off-peak electricity usage and engage commercial customers to convert from propane and diesel equipment to electric alternatives. ICF worked with JEA to develop a custom Non-Road Electrotechnology (NRE) program.
ICF implemented a turnkey program that included a market assessment, customized rebates, and local expertise to facilitate the conversion of equipment like forklifts and cranes. This solution resulted in a significant increase in annual load and revenue for JEA. The program engaged over 450 customers, completed 156 projects, and is expected to generate over $11 million in net present value. It also reduced local site emissions by an estimated 360,000 tons of carbon dioxide over the life of the new equipment.
