Saint-Gobain UK, a major wholesaler of construction materials, faced a slow, paper-based rebate contracting process that limited visibility into rebate cash flows and left significant income at risk — in 2018 more than £1.1M in rebates remained unpaid because contracts were unsigned. Contracts took weeks or months to execute, were hard to locate or search, and fewer than half governing that year were signed by mid‑fiscal year, threatening a crucial revenue stream that is typically five times the company’s year‑end profit.
To fix this, Saint‑Gobain deployed the Icertis Contract Intelligence (ICI) platform to digitize and centralize contracts, apply AI/NLP to surface rebate rates and insights, and automate origination, negotiation and e‑signature workflows. The solution delivered visibility into 2.4 million rebate rates across 700 suppliers and 125,000 products, accelerated contract cycles, reduced disputes with full audit trails, improved forecasting and revenue recognition, and is expected to boost rebate income by about £3M.
