Naked Science launches mobile apps with IceRock and reaches 50,000 downloads

The owner of Naked Science, a popular news resource, wanted to expand its presence by launching its own mobile app and also create a universal builder to sell white-label apps to other news outlets. They engaged the vendor, IceRock, to develop this automated system, which presented a significant technical challenge requiring the modernization of outdated code and innovative R&D work.

IceRock developed a generator system that allows resource owners to input parameters via a web admin panel to automatically build branded mobile apps. The solution successfully launched the flagship Naked Science app, which achieved approximately 50,000 downloads. IceRock also demonstrated its technical expertise by solving complex interface challenges, such as adapting the app for iPhone 14 Pro's Dynamic Island before official documentation was available.
