University of Basel unifies 30,000 identities with iC Consult

The University of Basel, a major Swiss university, faced a fragmented and complex identity and access management (IAM) landscape with inconsistent security standards across its faculties. To modernize its systems and consolidate up to 30,000 user accounts, it partnered with vendor iC Consult to implement a central Identity Provider using Ping Identity and a Privileged Access Management solution using One Identity Safeguard.

iC Consult implemented a central Identity Fabric to standardize authentication and a PAM solution to secure privileged accounts. The results included the migration of 30,000 identities to the new fabric and the full implementation of One Identity Safeguard within six months. This significantly reduced security risks and administrative effort while increasing governance and compliance for the University of Basel.
