Petroc College, one of the largest further-education institutions in Devon with 750 staff and more than 4,000 students, faced growing cybersecurity and safeguarding challenges as pandemic-driven hybrid learning left thousands of devices operating “outside the fence.” The college’s legacy on-premises security could not scale to protect remote users or provide the visibility needed for student safeguarding, so Petroc partnered with iboss, initially deploying iboss Web Monitoring (with plans for iboss Zero Trust SASE) to modernize its cloud-first, Zero Trust approach.

iboss implemented a cloud-native Secure Web Gateway and Web Monitoring solution that gave Petroc real-time logging, granular access control, dedicated fixed IPs for investigations, and a User Risk Dashboard to flag at-risk students. The rapid deployment improved safeguarding and security posture immediately: iboss now protects 5,000 users and 2,000 devices and prevents roughly 65,000 threats every 30 days, enabling secure, Zero Trust access to cloud applications and streamlined incident response for the college.
