Digital Transformation in Healthcare

Humana, a Louisville-based healthcare company serving 16.6 million members, was undergoing a digital transformation to support an integrated care model but needed a hyper-connected data ecosystem and a new approach to enterprise data integration. To meet that challenge they partnered with IBM StreamSets and adopted DataOps practices to modernize how data from many sources and formats is ingested and provisioned.

IBM StreamSets implemented automated DataOps pipelines leveraging StreamSets’ data drift detection and real-time capabilities to flow multi-source data into a hybrid-cloud environment. The solution accelerated onboarding of new pharmacy data to providers, improved insights for addressing social determinants and member engagement, and supported high-volume operations (about 10 million scripts per day) while contributing to reported outcomes such as 20% healthier members.
