A IBM StreamSets Case Study
BT Group’s OpenReach — the part of BT Group that runs the UK’s digital network — needed a “one true data source” to support its Broadband Britain rollout but was hampered by siloed on‑prem systems, multiple versions of the same data, slow refresh cycles and no single view for decision making. Working with TCS, BT selected IBM StreamSets’ data engineering platform (StreamSets Data Collector, Transformer and Control Hub) to provide a zero‑coding, cloud‑ready Data(Sec)Ops foundation.
IBM StreamSets migrated more than 20 TB of on‑prem data into an AWS S3 data lake, enabled smart, reusable pipelines to AWS and GCP, and let teams build pipelines in minutes via a drag‑and‑drop GUI. The platform democratized data access — BT Group grew from ~23 data engineers to 250+ users, now runs over 7,000 pipelines and has 450 reusable fragments — delivering faster analytics, multi‑cloud flexibility and measurable operational impact.
