Intelligent scanning from ibml lightens the load for Capita’s UK government client

Capita, a flexible outsourcing partner serving UK public sector clients, faced a challenge in processing a high volume of application forms and correspondence for a Home Office agency. Their incumbent scanning system required extensive manual pre-scan preparation and had poor OCR accuracy. To improve throughput, data integrity, and disaster recovery, Capita partnered with vendor ibml to implement an intelligent scanning solution using the ibml ImageTrac scanner and SoftTrac Capture Suite software.

The ibml solution automated the manual process by intelligently detecting document types and validating over twenty mandatory fields on each form during scanning. This allowed Capita to significantly increase throughput, reduce the pre-scan preparation area, and cut operational headcount by around 15%. The flexibility of ibml's system also enabled Capita's local IT team to easily change business rules on demand to handle seasonal workload variations.
