A IBM Case Study
we.trade, a joint venture backed by banks and IBM, needed a way to make international trade faster, simpler, and less risky. Traditional trade finance was costly, hard to scale, and burdened by lengthy legal processes, leaving many companies without access and exposing them to counterparty risk.
IBM helped we.trade build a blockchain-based digital trade platform using the IBM Blockchain Platform on IBM Cloud and Hyperledger Fabric. The solution introduced distributed ledger technology, smart contracts, and a bank-led onboarding model to automate agreements and payments, reduce friction, and improve trust. IBM Blockchain Services also helped we.trade launch faster, saving an estimated 9–12 months and bringing the platform to market ahead of competitors.
