Case Study: Vasaloppet boosts participant engagement with IBM data and storytelling

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the Vasaloppet Case Study

Vasaloppet drives new connection and engagement through the power of data and storytelling

Vasaloppet, the Swedish ski, bike, and foot race organization, wanted a better way to connect with participants and turn race-day data into a year-round emotional experience. Working with IBM, it sought to unify scattered photos, videos, and race details into a more personal and engaging story for each racer.

IBM helped Vasaloppet build “Vasastory,” a personalized web experience powered by IBM data integration technologies, IBM Cloud, IBM Db2 Warehouse, and IBM Cognos Analytics. The solution sends congratulatory emails within about 30 minutes of finish time and creates shareable race stories; in its first year, more than 35,000 participants shared their Vasastory online, and Vasaloppet also digitized historical records to improve storytelling and insights.
