A IBM Case Study
Sicoob, the largest credit union system in Brazil, faced significant challenges in managing its IT infrastructure due to rapid business growth. This expansion led to hundreds of databases, increasing complexity and cost, while threatening the quality of service for its member-owners. To combat this, they partnered with IBM for an infrastructure transformation.
IBM implemented a solution centered on the IBM z Systems platform running Linux and IBM DB2 LUW with BLU Acceleration. This migration consolidated their databases onto a mainframe, which simplified management and provided immense scalability. The results for Sicoob included analytics that were up to 20 times faster, a 35% reduction in storage costs from database compression, and the ability to instantly scale to support continued growth.
