A IBM Case Study
The University of Louisville, working with IBM, faced the challenge of reducing athlete injuries while managing a growing volume of wearable and survey data. Its sport performance team needed a faster, more reliable way to turn data from devices like Catapult and Polar into insights that could help coaches protect players and improve performance, especially for the women’s basketball team.
IBM helped the University of Louisville and PMsquare build an automated analytics solution using IBM SPSS Modeler and IBM Cognos Analytics. The system streamlined data collection, predicted injury risk, and presented findings in easy-to-read dashboards for coaches and athletes. As a result, Louisville achieved 95% player availability, 92% injury-prediction accuracy with zero false negatives, and a 20% time saving for the sports performance team.
