University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, one of the UK’s largest teaching trusts, wanted to improve employee support for its 10,500+ staff while increasing efficiency and reducing operational costs. Working with IBM, the Trust explored AI and automation to streamline HR and workforce queries and improve day-to-day employee experience.
IBM helped implement People Assist, a 24x7 virtual assistant built with IBM watsonx Assistant and IBM watsonx.ai to answer routine HR questions and guide users to relevant policy information. Since launch, the platform has handled over 550 conversations and is estimated to save about 2,080 working days per year, while also helping free HR teams to focus on more complex cases.
