Case Study: BPM Northwest cuts ETL from 2 days to 20 minutes and reduces financial-close costs 25% with IBM Cloud (dashDB & Bluemix)

A IBM Case Study

Preview of the BPM Northwest Case Study

Uniting cloud applications to help customers extract lightning-fast insight from their data

BPM Northwest, a data and analytics consultancy, was helping clients migrate to the cloud but ran into a common problem: siloed cloud applications required time‑consuming manual ETL work (one client had to collate 638 spreadsheets and spend two days each month). To address this, BPM Northwest used IBM solutions—including IBM Cloud services such as IBM dashDB and IBM Bluemix—to automate integration and create a scalable cloud data platform.

Using IBM dashDB and Bluemix, BPM Northwest built and deployed an app that automates data extraction, transformation and loading and can serve as a cloud data warehouse. The IBM‑based solution cut a monthly two‑day process down to about 20 minutes, delivered an estimated 25% reduction in monthly financial‑closing costs, enabled faster proof‑of‑concept deployment, and opened a new market opportunity for BPM Northwest.
