UCM Technics boosts storage performance to enable business innovation

UCM Technics, a Belgian nonprofit supporting entrepreneurs and SMEs, needed to modernize its storage to keep up with new digital apps, nonstop agile testing, and heavy data refresh workloads. Its existing environment was nearing performance limits, creating bottlenecks and unpredictable response times, so UCM worked with IBM and its partner Core ICT to find a more scalable solution.

IBM, implemented by Core ICT, delivered an all-flash IBM Storage FlashSystem environment built on IBM Spectrum Virtualize and IBM FlashSystem 7300 systems. The result was immediate: maximum IOPS doubled from 80,000 to 160,000, storage response time improved 5x, and overnight database refreshes were reduced by 75%, from about four hours to one hour.
