A IBM Case Study
Huhtamaki, a global packaging manufacturer, needed to replace its Hong Kong data center and IT network hub as part of a Cloud First strategy focused on business continuity, scalability, and future-ready digital innovation. The company also wanted to control costs, maintain VMware compatibility, and avoid vendor lock-in, so it chose IBM Cloud with support from IBM Business Partner ManagerIT.
IBM implemented a hybrid cloud architecture using IBM Cloud Bare Metal Servers, IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions, IBM Cloud Object Storage, and IBM Gateway Appliances, with migrations to IBM Cloud data centers in Singapore and Frankfurt. The result was more agile, scalable operations with cost-neutral cloud spending, significant licensing savings through BYOL, free connectivity between the two IBM locations, and improved sustainability through more efficient use of equipment and electricity.
