A IBM Case Study
The State of Qatar’s Ministry of Interior needed to improve performance and control rising costs as increasing database workloads and resource-heavy queries strained its IBM Db2 for z/OS environment. The agency serves nearly all citizens and businesses in Qatar, so slow query processing was affecting its ability to deliver timely services and reports.
IBM implemented the IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator for z/OS, later upgraded to version 7 with IBM Services support. The solution offloaded CPU-intensive queries, reduced SQL tuning effort, and cut data replication latency from three minutes to about three seconds. As a result, average latency dropped by 98%, reports that once took 20 minutes now run in about 40 seconds, and CPU usage and processing costs were reduced.
