A IBM Case Study
The Alliance to End Plastic Waste needed a way to close the data gap in the plastics value chain so it could make better sustainability and investment decisions. Working with IBM, the organization set out to build a trusted platform for gathering, filtering, and analyzing global plastic waste data to support more targeted action against plastic leakage.
IBM Consulting helped co-create PRISM, a cloud-based decision-making platform built with IBM Garage, IBM Watson Studio, and IBM Cloud. The solution uses governance workflows, expert data quality scoring, heat maps, and machine learning to estimate missing data and prioritize projects; IBM says it enabled the Alliance to model plastic leakage for many cities in developing countries and create a scalable tool to support millions in expected sustainability investments over the next five years.
