Verizon Business faced the urgent challenge of accelerating 5G deployment and supporting real-time enterprise connectivity during the COVID-19 disruption. Working with IBM, the company set out to combine 5G, multi-access edge computing (MEC), AI, and hybrid cloud to improve network performance and enable new digital services.
IBM helped Verizon Business implement integrated edge and AI solutions, including IBM Maximo Application Suite and IBM Consulting, to support faster network expansion and remote operations. The collaboration helped Verizon push 5G nationwide to more than 230 million people, reach 24 million customers across several U.S. regions by January 2021, and achieve end-to-end latency of just 10 ms.
