A IBM Case Study
Skagerak Energi, one of Norway’s largest energy groups, needed to modernize aging IT infrastructure to keep pace with demanding, data-heavy energy production and regulatory reporting requirements. The company relied on IBM to help replace slow, manual processes with a more powerful, reliable platform, using IBM all-flash storage and IBM Power Systems to support its virtual desktop infrastructure and critical data processing.
IBM implemented IBM FlashSystem with HyperSwap technology and IBM Power Systems E950 with POWER9 processors to improve performance, availability, and fault tolerance. The results were significant: critical reporting and insights became 11x faster, several benchmarks improved by 5x to 11x over the previous database appliance solution, and Skagerak gained a more secure, high-availability VDI for accurate data transfers.
