GPT Group, a diversified ASX‑listed property group, faced increasingly untenable ESG data management: dozens of spreadsheets, PDFs and siloed legacy systems made energy, water, waste and emissions reporting onerous and slowed sustainability progress. To address this, GPT Group partnered with IBM and in 2011 began deploying the IBM Envizi ESG Suite to consolidate data sources and modernize its ESG reporting and management.

IBM’s Envizi ESG Suite normalized and centralized GPT Group’s environmental data, added interval meter analytics and program‑tracking capabilities, and enabled finance‑grade dashboards and audit‑ready reporting. The solution helped GPT Group cut portfolio energy intensity by 52%, deliver about USD 20 million in annual energy and water savings (rising toward ~USD 50 million at current market rates), and achieve an 82% emissions reduction on its 2005 baseline, while supporting top sustainability rankings and easier regulatory reporting.
