A IBM Case Study
A Benelux bank faced a significant challenge as malware-based attacks, including man-in-the-browser and man-in-the-middle attacks, were rapidly increasing in its region. While the bank had not yet experienced a direct fraud loss, executives were concerned about the threat to their customers and sought an additional layer of security. To address this, the bank turned to IBM and its Trusteer Pinpoint Malware Detection solution.
IBM implemented its clientless detection software to analyze customer devices and identify behavioral anomalies during logins, providing an early warning system for malware. This solution from IBM enabled the bank to proactively stop fraud attempts, protect approximately 230,000 customers, and offer remediation software to over 5,200 users. The results included a significant reduction in operational risk, which allowed the bank to hold less capital in reserve, and a marked increase in customer satisfaction and trust.
