A IBM Case Study
AMB Sports and Entertainment Group (AMBSE) faced the challenge of competing with high-tech home viewing experiences by improving stadium traffic, parking, concessions, and Wi-Fi connectivity to draw more fans to live events. They partnered with IBM, utilizing the IBM MobileFirst Platform Foundation and services from IBM Global Business Services and IBM Global Technology Services, to create a more immersive and technologically advanced fan experience.
IBM's solution included designing a new stadium with a high-density Wi-Fi network, a massive 360-degree video screen, and over 2,000 displays. This was supported by a passive optical network (PON) that replaced copper wiring, which increased bandwidth while reducing required infrastructure space by 33%, freeing 4,000 square feet and yielding power and cooling savings. IBM helped AMBSE anticipate significant gains in operational efficiency and create a seamless, analytics-driven experience for fans.
