Singapore National Eye Centre - Customer Case Study

Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), Singapore’s designated national eye centre serving 300,000 outpatients and 28,000 operations annually across five locations, struggled with siloed image capture systems across 10 subspecialties and no single PACS integrated with its EMR. To reduce clinician burden, manual re‑entry of patient data, and error risk, SNEC engaged IBM (Merge) and its Merge Eye Care PACS solution to provide a unified, EMR‑integrated imaging platform.

IBM implemented Merge Eye Care PACS, delivering one‑click access between the EMR and image viewer, advanced drawing tools, and the ability to review multiple related images; the full rollout was completed in under two months. Early results reported by SNEC include time savings from reduced printing and filing, fewer steps to secure results (reducing errors), capture of all ophthalmic images into the EMR, and the ability to enable remote testing and consultations to cut patient wait times.
