A IBM Case Study
Teikoku Databank, Ltd., a Japanese corporate credit research firm, needed to analyze its massive proprietary company data alongside vast amounts of unstructured "big data" from the internet to remain competitive and meet evolving customer demands. With its existing technology, processing this information was a slow and difficult task that hindered the development of new services. To address this challenge, they turned to IBM and its InfoSphere BigInsights software, built on Apache Hadoop.
By implementing the IBM solution on a server cluster, Teikoku Databank achieved a dramatic increase in processing speed, reducing the time to analyze billions of text items from several days to just 30 minutes. This allowed them to analyze 4.75 times more data for their "List of Companies in Specific Industry" service, combining high-quality internal data with web information to create unique, detailed corporate profiles. As a result, IBM helped Teikoku Databank significantly improve its data quality, expand its service offerings, and achieve a strong competitive advantage.
