Sharpening compliance with global labor laws thanks to smarter content management

Abercrombie & Fitch faced a compliance and efficiency challenge: European labor laws require the retailer to collect and retain extensive hiring documents for every associate, but paper-based filing across its international stores made audits slow, costly, and risky. IBM — with implementation support from MagicLamp Software — delivered a digital capture and content-management solution that standardizes and indexes documents (using templates and QR codes), integrates with the existing IBM Content Manager, and provides instant, remote access to records. As a result, Abercrombie & Fitch now meets external-audit compliance goals in Germany and Spain, has cut the cost and effort of paper processes, achieved faster document retrieval (seconds instead of days), improved associate-file compliance across rollouts (seven European countries live), and expects full ROI once global deployment is complete.
