BRED Banque Populaire, a community bank serving more than one million customers, needed to refresh its IT infrastructure to support growth without affecting service quality. Its aging virtual tape environment was slowing performance and lengthening backup processes, creating risk for client service; BRED turned to IBM Storage and IBM Z to modernize its banking systems.

IBM implemented a virtual tape solution based on IBM TS7760 with Transparent Cloud Tiering and upgraded the bank to IBM z14, deploying three systems in a high-availability setup across three sites. With IBM, BRED achieved a 5:1 average storage compression rate, cut backup windows by up to 60%, reduced storage costs, and gained a path toward future cloud adoption.
